As you well know, the mass exodus from our profession we seem to be experiencing is catching some serious attention nationwide.  We're constantly being reminded of the serious shortages of qualified music educators, the declining health of the music profession, and the diminishing numbers of bright and talented applicants entering the music education field.   

 I have hopes that this little book might just help to deter some who might otherwise bail out prematurely.  We all agree it is going to take a concentrated, dedicated, and systematic effort by all of us to not only attract students but KEEP them once we get them.  That's where these wads of wisdom, opinions, quotes, and quips can help music specialists "thrive, not just survive!"
